Accessible Signup Form for SaaS Platform

Accessible sign-up form redesign screens

The challenge

The sign-up flow had four problems. The primary button had poor colour contrast. Users couldn't step backward once inside the flow. Membership options were hidden at the bottom of a long feature table. And there were too many formal steps before users saw any value.

I needed to redesign the flow to fix these issues and meet AAA accessibility standards.

Process

I focused on making information visible up front. I based the flow on familiar sign-up patterns from sites like eBay and Netflix, and opened the platform with a free trial instead of a paywall. I defined clear page sections, used AAA-compliant colour for form controls, added a hidden accessible label for membership type, and made the whole form keyboard navigable.

Results

The final flow reduced sign-up to a single email field, with no placeholder text. It added clear error states, like 'Enter your email', and gave every interactive element a clear focus state for keyboard users. I tested the concept as a wireframe in Miro before it went to visual design.

Key learnings

The thinking matters more than the polish. Working collaboratively with stakeholders and users, through tools like Miro and Figma, is what surfaces the right problems to solve.
